Pat Sharkey

I am a professional dance teacher in ballroom, classical sequence and latin dancing. I qualified in 1981. Having danced sine the age of seven as amateur. I have served on many ballroom dance committees as amateur and professional. I am very passionate about promoting dancing for everyone not just for the competitors but for the general public too. Without them, there would be no dancing, without social dancers the industry would not survive.

My personal drive is that dancing should embrace everyone from the champions to the beginners and those who just love to dance without competition.

Over the past 38 years as professional I have worked at promoting dance for everyone. Over the past 9 years I have had the pleasure to work for the same sex dance world and have watched lots of enthusiasm from all over Europe and more recently the World Championships at the Gay Games in Paris which I had the great honour to be chairman/president for four days. Truly a memory I shall treasure forever.

I hope I can bring lots of support and personal insight to the organisation.
