Mark Hebell has been an active participant in both Ballroom and Latin competitions representing German Dance Sport Federation (DTV) from 1996 to 2008. Since retiring from his active career he concentrates on working as a professional coach, choreographer and adjudicator. He has been judging same-sex competitions since 2011, including the German Open Championships (2015), Le Rendez-Vous de Paris (2014, 2019), Pink Jukebox Trophy London (2019) and the Nordic Open (Helsinki 2028; Copenhagen 2019).
In addition to his work in dancesport, Mark Hebell has broadened his knowledge of human movement by qualifying as an Alexander Technique Teacher in 2005 and studying Laban/Bartenieff Movement Studies since 2017 to become a Certified Laban Movement Analyst.
After relocating to Vienna/Austria in 2020, he keeps working in Berlin/Germany, where he has been living the past twelve years.
Mark Hebell’s motivation to stand for election at the 2020 ESSDA AGM comes from his wish to bring his experience of nearly 25 years in dancesport to the table in order to help further improving and strengthening same-sex dancing in Europe.
